This article is about the NPC. For the encounter, see Dynus (encounter).
Cold but powerful, Dynus is the Dragon of the Moon and the ruling Deity over Withergate. He is the main antagonist of the game at present, and can be "defeated" in two different ways. He can be fought physically, or one can make offerings at his many altars. If one chooses to complete every altar, he will say the player could have become a great king, had they not chosen to be a lowly hero.
Dynus controls great powers of darkness. He seeks to rule a grand empire, using the Demon race among others as his lackeys. He behaves dismissively and arrogantly towards mortals and has no qualms in destroying those who will not serve his goals, but does not show unnecessary cruelty towards his servants.
General non-conversational dialogue between Dynus and the player. If there is a seasonal token at the end of the dialogue, it means the player can only see that dialogue during that season.
:"You would dare waste my time... a foolhardy mistake."
:"Minos has done well running my city... so far."
:"Withergate is only the inception of my empire."
:"Do not be fooled... my patience should not be confused for mercy."
:"So puny, so weak..."

Cycle 1
:
You've returned... Speak, or cease wasting my time.
Player:
Were you a guardian dragon before you came to Withergate?
:
No, that was never my purpose... I only guard Withergate for its convenience.
Player:
So you're only here for the glorite?
:
Indeed, there is no hoard like this anywhere else... in the entire world.
Player:
Do you care about Withergate at all?
:
I care only... for what Withergate will do for my rise to power... This place is but a stepping stone... on my path to greatness.
Player:
How did you come to Withergate?
:
Withergate... came to me. My power attracted the Demons... they knew their place before long.
Player:
You've secured a lot of power here. +2 Points
:
This is a mere fraction of what is to come... When my empire is complete, no power in this world... will rival mine.
Player:
Did you need the Demon's help? -1 Points
:
Ignorant rat... I needed no aid. The Demons came to me... and I chose the partnership with Minos... in exchange for their tributes.
Cycle 2
:
You've returned... Speak, or cease wasting my time.
Player:
What do you get from the offerings?
:
Offerings placed into the altar give me power... similar to the gems below me. More importantly... it reminds my inferiors where they belong. I try to avoid needless cruelty... to those who revere me.
Player:
So you rely on the power that is given to you?
:
I rely only on myself... Do not test me, puny hero. The offerings add little to my power... but I get satisfaction from the devotion of my subjects.
Player:
I'll prove myself to you.
:
We shall see... and hurry.
Player:
How old are you?
:
Age is irrelevant to my life... I've ceased counting the decades that drift by.
Player:
So you don't even know how much longer you'll live? -1 Points
:
Simple-minded weakling... Something as simple as time has no influence on a being as powerful as I am.
Player:
You must be powerful if you've surpassed time. +2 Points
:
Centuries ago, I defeated a race who refused to serve me... they knew me by a fitting title... Dominus Mortis... Master of Death.
Cycle 3
:
You've returned... Speak, or cease wasting my time.
Player:
Is it hard maintaining this darkness spell at all times?
:
It requires a certain concentration... but the energy I use is an insignificant fragment of my whole power. And of course... my hoard of magic crystals becomes quite useful.
Player:
Your power is infinite as long as you have those gems. +2 Points
:
Indeed, which is why my dominion must be realized... Once my darkness encompasses the world, my power will be ultimate.
Player:
You'll run out of energy one day. -1 Points
:
So short-sighted... Once my dominion is realized, I will never run out of energy... My hoard will grow. The whole world will work for me... to maintain my darkness.
Player:
I've never seen a dragon with powers like yours.
:
There are no dragons like me. My power is mine alone... just as it is with all dragons.
Player:
Every dragon has different powers?
:
A dragon's power comes from its soul... Where that power comes from, even I can't say.
Player:
So where does your power come from?
:
A dragon's power comes from its soul... Where that power comes from, even I can't say.
Cycle 4
:
You've returned... Speak, or cease wasting my time.
Player:
What do you think of the Demon King Minos?
:
Ah, Minos... He is a capable and faithful follower, though he thinks himself my partner... Heh, let him think so.
Player:
That's not a good way to speak of your allies. -1 Points
:
Minos is not my ally... he is my servant.
Player:
The king is a fool to think he's equal to you. +2 Points
:
This is true, but that is bold talk... from a lowly wretch like you.
Player:
Do the people worship you?
:
I wouldn't know... I let the Demon King handle the people. It makes no difference... for they are below me.
Player:
Don't you want to reward them for loving you?
:
That is not the job of a ruler. Foolish sentiment has no place... in my world.
Player:
What if they stop loving you?
:
I get nothing from their love... only their obedience.
Cycle 5
:
You've returned... Speak, or cease wasting my time.
Player:
Why are you helping the Demons?
:
The Demons are a convenient vehicle for my dominion... Do not be confused, helping them is not my intent. They are a stepping stone... toward my empire.
Player:
It seems like you're working for them.
:
You know nothing... of my intentions. I wouldn't expect a creature like you... to understand my dominion.
Player:
What use do you have for an empire, anyway?
:
My empire must grow to maintain my power... but I wouldn't expect a creature like you... to understand my dominion.
Player:
How does a dragon become as powerful as you?
:
Not all dragons are born equal... Some are mere serpents, but others... like myself... are born for greatness.
Player:
So you were just lucky to be born this way? -1 Points
:
It is nothing to do with luck, whelp... It is providence.
Player:
Now I truly understand your superiority. +2 Points
:
Yes, now you see... and soon, everyone in this world will see.
Cycle 6
:
You've returned... Speak, or cease wasting my time.
Player:
What will you do once you've conquered your empire?
:
I will do what rulers do... rule. As my power grows... my opposition will terminated.
Player:
It sounds pointless to me. -1 Points
:
I'm unsurprised that a whelp like you... wouldn't comprehend my dominion.
Player:
Only a fool would try to resist you. +2 Points
:
Others before have tried resisting... and they failed.
Player:
Are you able to grant a blessing?
:
I can, but I choose not to... why waste gifts on those who are too incompetent to use them?
Player:
Not even the Demons?
:
The Demons... are capable enough on their own. If they needed by Blessing... they would have had nothing to offer me...
Player:
What about me?
:
Were the Blessings you received from the so called 'guardian dragons'... not enough for you? At least you understand... the desire for power.
Cycle 7
:
You've returned... Speak, or cease wasting my time.
Player:
Do you know Elios?
:
Yes... the Sun Dragon... Elios and I have a history that spans your lifetime... countless times over.
Player:
His power is nothing compared to yours. +2 Points
:
Truer words have never been spoken... The Sun Dragon is mighty in name only. His light will soon be overcome... by my darkness.
Player:
He's the most powerful dragon I've met. -1 Points
:
Insolent whelp... You will soon realize how wrong you are.
Player:
Why do you spread darkness and not light?
:
Darkness is part of my soul... something I did not choose, but that always was. Even the guardian dragons... are subject to their fate.
Player:
So you can't spread light?
:
I can dissipate the darkness to make light... but that would be pointless. Light is a crutch... for those without real power.
Player:
So your power isn't unlimited after all.
:
As far as it concerns the likes of you... there is no difference.

Trivia
The Moon Dragon does not seem to consider himself the Guardian Deity of Withergate or even as a Guardian at all, rather seeing himself as a conqueror and allowing the Demon King Minos to rule the city in his name.
While King Minos states he and his father raised Withergate Castle and the city around it, Dynus claims Withergate was founded because of his own presence. It is not clear whether the Demon Kings or Dynus came first.
Dynus claims all Dragons are victims of their own fate, himself included, and that spreading darkness and seeking domination over the world is merely in his nature.
He regards Elios as an enemy but does not appear to hold true malicious intent towards him, rather they have been long-time opponents of necessity, as the Sun Dragon naturally stands in the way of his dominion.
While he is capable of it, Dynus does not grant Blessings to the player.
Dynus claims to have destroyed an entire race that refused to serve him. They referred to him as Dominus Mortis - the Master of Death.
