Fertilizer
Fertilizer is put on the seedlings to give various types of benefits to the growth of that crop. There is fertilizer to retain the water effect, speed up growth time, increase the amount of harvest, or various combinations of those. The player will know they have correctly applied fertilizer if a sparkling effect is around the crop.
Crafting
Crafting fertilizer is a two step process. First the player must craft the compost at one of the composter workbenches. Sun Haven's composter will produce compost, Nel'Vari's mana composter will produce elven compost and Withergate's monster composter will produce monster compost. The elven and monster compost can be used at their respective regions composter but also at Sun Haven's. Once the base compost has been crafted, the player can convert it into a type of fertilizer.
There are three main types of fertilizer, which come in two different strengths:
- Earth fertilizer is crafted from compost and earth crystals. This gives a chance to grant extra crops upon harvest.
- Water fertilizer is crafted from compost and water crystals. This gives a chance to keep the crop watered overnight.
- Fire fertilizer is crafted from compost and fire crystals. This speeds up growing time of the crop.
And one minor type:
- Slime fertilizer is crafted from a unique crafting material. This combines the full effect of an advanced water fertilizer, along with a slight chance to produce an extra crop, similar to the simple earth fertilizers but less potent.
The main fertilizer types can then be combined to create more powerful fertilizer, that incorporates all of the benefits from that tier. Simple Magic Fertilizer is crafted from combining the simple versions of all three main types, and Advanced Magic Fertilizer if crafted from combining the advanced versions of all three main types. The magic fertilizer gives the benefits from all three at that benefit level.
Applying Fertilizer
The fertilizer must be applied on the first day the seed planted. The same fertilizer cannot be added to a single crop more than once, so the player does not have to worry about accidentally wasting fertilizer. However, the fertilizer can be changed to a different type, as only one type of fertilizer can be active on a plant at the same time.
Once the crop has been fertilized, it will have a sparkling animation, in the color of the fertilizer.
Regrowing Crops
If a fertilizer is added to a crop that regrows, all fertilizer types will be applied to the first harvest. For all subsequent harvest, only the water fertilizer is continually applied, even though the crop still has the fertilizer particle effect on it.
