Introduction

When speaking to Darius for the first time in a new game:

General Dialogue

If there is a seasonal token at the end of the dialogue, it means the player can only see that dialogue during that season.

Strangers

:"Learn your place, outsider."

:"Never approach any member of the elite unless beckoned."

:"Oh, I'm just thinking of all the ways I'll make your insolence come back to bite you."

:"You reek of inferiority."

:"Submit to your prince."

:"You stink of fresh soil. It must be spring in your Human town. "

:"What's wrong? Do you miss the sunshine and rainbows of your Human town? Feel free to return to it - and never come back! "

:"Summer? What a ridiculous season. Our darkness put a stop to such insufferable weather. "

:"All that grows in the summer sun must one day wither and die. What good is a season of growth? "

:"We keep it hot in the dark in Withergate. Just the way we like it. "

:"I had to leave Withergate on business... cursed summer. You can keep it, farmer. It has no place in Withergate. "

:"Enjoying the dark, [Player]? You had better be. "

:"I know of your custom in Sun Haven, pretending to be monsterfolk. Such an odd and petty little holiday. "

:"It must truly be a toil to have your world change everytime the world whims the seasons shift. "

:"I've seen the changing colors of leaves on the trees outside our dark forests. Beautiful, I admit, but unnecessary. "

:"My guards tell me that they can spy frost on the tips of Withergate Castle's tallest spires. I take that means winter has come to the outside world. "

:"We owe our paradise to Dynus. This time of year is as good as any to give him thanks for that fact. "

:"It's about time someone worthy came to me, even if it was from beyond Withergate's borders. "

:"I've already tasked Xyla with designing your crown. It will be extravagant without match, and all the more once it's on your head. "

:"Withergate's future is steeped in glory, and we shall sit at the top! "

:"Ah, my little ray of darkness. It's good to see you. "

:"I can't wait to see you order around the castle guard. What a treat that shall be to see! "

:"You are Withergate's third most important person, but you will forever be the most important to me. "

:"Do you feel the spring wind blow? This is a new era of Withergate's glory - of our glory. "

:"Has winter ended so soon? What a shame, I'll miss the chill. "

:"The vines and trees may wither and die, my love, but we shall be eternal. "

:"Perhaps someday I will visit you on your farm, in Sun Haven, and we can watch the changing of the leaves together. "

:"Let us begin new Withergate traditions, in your honor. They shall be superior to Sun Haven's, and last much longer. "

:"There are some in my court who keep inside for these winter weeks. I am proud to see you are not one of them, [Player]. "

:"I am considering giving Dynus a tribute. I wonder what he would consider a worthy gift. "

:"I can hear the echoes of festive music coming from Sun Haven. How annoying. "

:"I'm glad to have you at my side, [Player]. You should be here always, understand? "

Gifting Lines

General

• Loved: "A [item] fit for a prince. This is marvelous, [Player]."
• Liked: "[Item]? A worthy tribute."
• Good: "The gesture is appropriate, but I have little use for this [item]."
• Disliked: "You insult me with this [item]??"

Birthday Responses

If the player gives Darius a gift on their birthday, they will get one of these generic responses based on the level of the gift. Darius's birthday is the 1st of Spring.

:"You know me better than anyone else I've ever met, [Player]. Thank you for this wonderful gift on my birthday."

:"This was the best you could do? Snubbing a prince on his birthday is rarely a good idea - even less so when the prince you snub is me."

:"A fine gift for my royal birthday. You did well, now move along. I have other gifts from other subjects."

:"A gift worthy of Withergate! The royal family will not forget this, [Player]. Mark my words."

Memory Loss Potion

The Memory Loss Potion is an item that, when gifted to a Romanceable NPC, will cause the world to forget all about the relationship they have with the player. When used on a Romanceable NPC while married, the Memory Loss Potion will only reduce their hearts to ten (the platonic relationship cap), while getting a divorce at Town Hall will reduce it to 8.

:	That was absolutely terrible. You would be warming a dungeon cell for that affront to my tastes, but I have a more pressing matter to attend to. Someone put a strange ring on my finger. I'm not sure if it was some sort of joke, but I will find who did it.

Unique

Darius has several unique lines for gifts.

When gifted a Log, Dead Log, Haunted Log, or a Elven Log:

:"What is this trash? You would waste my time with a log?"

When gifted a Bone Gift:

:"An amusing gift, I'll admit that much."

When gifted a Copper, Iron, Adamant, or Mithril Sword

:"Swords are an excellent tribute to your future king."

When gifted a Sunite Sword:

:"A beautiful blade. It is a worthy gift, [Player]."

When gifted a Glorite Sword:

:"A sword of pure glorite? ...Magnificent. It shall be a royal heirloom, I decree!"

When gifted Spicy Ramen:

:"Hm. This looks like Human food... yet it smells delicious. A decent gift."

When gifted a Diamond:

:"Diamonds are a stone reserved for royalty in Withergate. How did you know, [Player]? Good work."

When gifted Glorite Ore, Glorite Bar, or a Enchanted Glorite Bar:

:"Well done, [Player]. I will put this glorite to good use."

When gifted Wheat Seeds:

:"Do I look like I dig around in the dirt to you? Seeds are useless to me, unless I order you to put them in the ground for me!"

When gifted a Leafie's Leaf:

:"A leaf from a leaf monster? I could fell a hundred of them without breaking a sweat. Next time, bring me a trophy that isn't so laughably pathetic."

When gifted an Apple:

:"An apple? What a pathetic attempt at a gift."

When gifted Darius Wedding Ring:

:"This ring was meant to stay with you forevermore, [Player]. Was I fool to trust you?"

When gifted Darius's Royal Heirloom:

:"This was a gift to you, [Player]. What sort of insult is this?"

:"What is this?...You STOLE this from Xyla, didn't you, [Player]? Heheh... Well done. I can't wait to see the look on her face when I present this at our next council meeting. Truly a gift worthy of a prince."

When gifted Tentacle Monster Emblem

:"What vile trinket is this? It bears the visage of one of the Demon race's most hated enemies. Where did you find this? Actually, it doesn't matter... Darius crushes the emblem in his hand, reducing it to pebbles and dust. I want this miserable thing out of my sight."

:"What's this? Feh! How did Xyla allow this to fall into the hands of petty criminal scum? She has much explaining to do."

Morning Gifts

When married to Darius, there is a chance he will have a gift for the player. This is indicated by a quest marker above his head, and will be available until the player talks to him.

When gifting  Steak:

:"I had my royal chef prepare you a meal. Only the finest cut of meat for you, my love."

When gifting  Spicy Ramen:

:"They say that spicy foods help one strengthen themselves. Raise in strength with, my love, until we eclipse both the sun and moon."

When gifting  Sweet and Spicy Shrimp:

:"This is a delicacy in Withergate. I had a servant deliver it in the night, just for you."

When gifting  Armoranth:

:"I found this flower growing out of the scorched dirt in front of the Castle Withergate. It must be a sign that you and I are meant to be together."
